Innovating, growing and telling our story: heading into 2025
17 December 2024As 2024 draws to a close, now is a great time to pause and reflect on what we have achieved and define new goals for the future.
We can look back with pride at the milestones we have achieved and the path laid out together, paved with dedication, quality and innovation.
This year has seen the launch of ambitious projects, strategic collaborations and significant changes that reinforce our commitment to excellence, the local area and sustainability. Every step taken represents a small success and a fundamental part of a chapter that encourages us to look to the future with confidence.
Here are the key results we have achieved:
- IMPASTO project: we inaugurated our print magazine that charts our commitment to sustainability through concrete actions and clear goals. Every page is an invitation to build a sustainable future, step by step, one ingredient after another;
- Contherm Max: we have improved our production capacity by increasing the yield of our sauces by 20% and reducing energy costs and waste by introducing an innovative heat exchanger;
- Training and the local area: we have strengthened our ties to the local area by offering talented young people a stimulating professional work environment through over 2,000 hours of internships and partnerships with local schools and universities. Our commitment to the local area also extends to championing those suppliers who share our values, such as Eurovo, with whom we guarantee an ethical and sustainable egg supply chain.
- Energy efficiency and Trigenia: in 2024, we made significant inroads into improving our energy efficiency, with a substantial decrease in fuel consumption and emissions. By revamping the cogeneration plant, implementing the Trigenia machine learning-based software and installing a new 2.5 MW photovoltaic system, we have significantly reduced our environmental impact and consolidated our commitment towards a more responsible and sustainable production system;
- Open Day 2024: with over 500 participants including employees, their families and the local community, the Open Day provided a unique opportunity for sharing and dialogue, reinforcing the company’s values and sense of belonging;
- Beeway®, Casa Artusi Partnerships: with Beeway®, we championed biodiversity by installing five beehives at Lavezzola; while with Casa Artusi, we celebrated Italian culture through the Italianisms in the World exhibition, which tells the story of our culinary tradition combined with innovation.
2025 horizon. New challenges.
Let’s take a sneak peek at what the future holds. 2024 draws to a close with excellent results and a clear vision of the path we have undertaken, but also with a renewed awareness of the journey ahead of us.
We are determined to continue on this path with an ongoing commitment towards innovation, sustainability and the promotion of Made in Italy.
The New Year will kick off immediately with a major event: the participation of Team Italy in the world final of the Bocuse d’Or gastronomic competition, to be held at Sirha Lyon. Surgital, the team’s official sponsor, will accompany the Italian champions to this international challenge, an opportunity to highlight the tradition and excellence of Italian cuisine, by shining a spotlight on the talent and quality that represent who we are.
Technology and global markets for growth
Technological innovation and international expansion are the cornerstones of Surgital’s strategy. The three-year plan to automate the production lines continues with the goal of streamlining processes to make them more efficient and sustainable, as well as improving the quality of our work.
At the same time, the company’s digitalisation path continues with new goals. After the introduction of the SAP and Salesforce systems, we will focus on the paperless management of invoices, thus simplifying operations and reducing our environmental impact.
These technological advances go hand in hand with our commitment to consolidate and expand in global markets. With representatives in over 60 countries and branch offices in France and the USA, Surgital is focused on consolidating key markets in Europe and North America, by reinforcing relations and publicising our products in these strategic area.
Reporting and the supply chain: transparency and quality
Transparency and support for our supply chain are two core aspects of Surgital’s future. In 2025, we will embark on a path towards non-financial reporting, in line with the standards and requirements of the CSRD. This will allow us to provide a comprehensive vision of the initiatives we have undertaken and the progress we have made, thus paving the way for integrated reporting by 2026, with the goal of providing a transparent and detailed overview of our commitment and the results achieved.
At the same time, the story of the production chain will be further developed, with the involvement of new suppliers after the successful collaboration with Eurovo. We will shine a light on the care and attention that underpins every stage of our value chain.
In parallel, we will reinforce our partnerships with prestigious institutions such as SDA Bocconi, Bologna Business School and Casa Artusi, promoting Made in Italy through initiatives which blend tradition and innovation. These will include a competition for foreign chefs in Italy, designed to stimulate an exchange between Italian culinary culture and international creativity.
Looking ahead
Every project, from automation to sustainability, international expansion and supply chain support, reflects Surgital’s commitment to building an increasingly dynamic company that is, however, firmly rooted in its signature values.
We are confident that 2025 will bring with it new and important milestones, as well as fundamental changes with a long-term impact.
